Graduate Engineering Trainee

Nandan GSE builds ground support equipment for aircraft and customised material-handling equipment, and most of it is engineered to a single customer's order. That makes the production floor at Khalapur the place where drawings become machines, and where a graduate engineer learns faster than anywhere else in the plant. We are taking four Graduate Engineering Trainees into Production, with a six-month rotation through design, planning, production and quality before you are confirmed into one department.

What you will do

• Spend your first six months rotating through design, planning, production and quality, then settle into the department that suits you and the plant best
• Work on the shop floor in Production, following jobs from drawing to despatch on scissor lifts, goods lifts, tail lifts, truck-loading lifts and hi-lifts
• Read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, and raise the questions that need answering before material is cut
• Support fabrication, machining, assembly and testing, and learn how hydraulic and structural assemblies come together
• Track job progress against the production plan and flag delays, shortages and rework early
• Work with the design, purchase, quality and service teams, all of whom sit under one roof at Nandan GSE
• Use Genie, the company's own software, for planning and quality information on your jobs
• Record production data accurately and help keep the shop floor tidy and safe

What you bring

• BE or B.Tech as the minimum qualification, in an engineering discipline relevant to manufacturing
• 0 to 2 years of experience; fresh graduates and candidates from an internship or apprenticeship are welcome
• Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings, or a genuine willingness to learn quickly
• Interest in fabrication, welding, assembly, hydraulics and material handling equipment
• Willingness to spend your working day on the shop floor rather than at a desk
• Openness to rotating across departments for six months before being fixed in one
• Clear written and spoken communication, enough to report status and raise problems without being asked twice
• Availability to join immediately, as these positions need to be filled at once
