Production Supervisor (Fabrication & Assembly)

Nandan GSE builds ground support equipment for aircraft and customised material-handling equipment, and almost every machine is engineered to a particular customer's order. That makes the shop floor the place where a drawing becomes a scissor lift, a goods lift or a truck-loading lift that has to work the first time, in India or abroad. As a Production Supervisor at our Khalapur works, you own the hours between the drawing release and the finished machine: the sequence, the people, the quality and the date.

What you will do

• Supervise day-to-day production of ground support equipment and material-handling equipment at the Khalapur plant, from fabrication through assembly to despatch.
• Plan and allocate work against the production schedule, and keep job progress, man-hours and job status updated in Genie, the company's own planning, quality and service software.
• Read and work from engineering drawings, cut lists and bills of material, and make sure the team on the floor is building to the latest released drawing.
• Guide fitters, welders, fabricators and assembly staff through cutting, welding, machining, assembly, hydraulic and electrical fitment, and testing of lifts.
• Work with design, purchase, quality and service so that material, bought-out items and inspection are ready when the job needs them, rather than after.
• Carry out in-process checks with the quality team, record them, and close non-conformities with corrective action on the shop floor.
• Keep housekeeping, safe working practice and correct use of tools, lifting tackle and machines as a daily habit, not an audit item.
• Report production output, delays and shortages to the Production head with the reasons and the recovery plan.

What you bring

• A Diploma or higher in a relevant engineering discipline, mechanical preferred.
• 2 to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication shop, with at least part of it supervising people on the floor.
• Comfort with engineering drawings, GA and fabrication drawings, weld symbols and bills of material.
• Working knowledge of fabrication, welding and assembly, and an understanding of hydraulic and electrical fitment on lifts or similar equipment.
• The ability to run a team through a shift: allocate work, follow up, settle small problems and escalate the big ones early.
• Basic computer literacy, enough to work in a production and quality software system and to report what the day produced.
• Readiness to work at Khalapur, Raigad, Maharashtra, and to join within 15 days.
